Frostie Green Apple Soda

I opened this after some snow shoveling today:

Frostie Green Apple Soda

Brand: Frostie Green Apple Soda.

Origin: Detroit, MI.

Purchase Place: Blue Sun Soda, Spring Lake Park, MN.

Sweetener: Pure Cane Sugar.

Review: I sort of expected this to taste like a liquid Jolly Rancher: sweet and tasty. But it wasn't as sweet or as flavorful as I expected. The green apple flavor was weak and had a hint of "wet cardboard." It was OK, but not great. I'll give it an average score.

Score: 5 out of 10.

Fluids Soda Green Cooler

Yesterday, I started a quick 3-day project in our basement and up the basement steps. I opened this while working:

Fluids Soda Green Cooler
After a few hours of scraping and caulking, before getting a coat of primer on last night.

Brand: Fluids Soda Co. Green Cooler.

Origin: Camarillo, CA.

Purchase Place: Blue Sun Soda, Spring Lake Park, MN.

Sweetener: Sugar.

Review: Much like my first "Fluids" soda earlier this summer, I didn't know what flavor this was when I opened it. I guess I wasn't too surprised with this neon green turned out to be "green apple" flavored. It was OK. It was a little harsh, and it had that slight "wet cardboard" taste. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. I'm ranking this just below average.

Score: 4.5 out of 10.

Sidenote: here's my "before" shot of scraping from yesterday, and my "during" shot from right now after caulking and a few coats of primer on the bare spots:

Time to paint tomorrow! (Just got back with paint from Menards - all ready to go!)

Filbert's Old Time Quality Green Apple Soda

I enjoyed drank this in my classroom today:

Filbert's Old Time Quality Green Apple Soda

Brand: Filbert's Old Time Quality Green Apple Soda.

Origin: Chicago, IL.

Purchase Place: "Minnesota's Largest Candy Store," Jordan, MN.

Sweetener: High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Review: Ehh. This was OK. The green apple taste was decent. Unlike my first green apple soda, this one was NOT overly sweet, so that was better. But LIKE my first green apple soda, this one also had a wet cardboard aspect to it - in the other green apple soda, it was just a smell, but this one tasted like green apples mashed with wet cardboard. Not great. It was drinkable, but fantastic. I'll rank this the same as the only other green apple soda I've had: just below average.

Score: 4 out of 10.

Jelly Belly Green Apple Soda

The label said "GOURMET soda," but I didn't have much faith in this:

Jelly Belly Green Apple Soda

Brand: Jelly Belly Green Apple Soda.

Origin: Fairfield, CA.

Purchase Place: "Frattallone's Ace Hardware," St. Paul, MN.

Sweetener: Cane Sugar.

Review: When I popped the top, it smelled like wet cardboard. My first sip was interesting: it had a very "CANDY green apple" flavor (not like a tart ACTUAL green apple), and then it had a strange aftertaste. The flavor wasn't bad, it was just more sugary than I expected (and I expected it to be a bit sugary). Overall, I'll call it just barely below average - it was drinkable, but not great.

Score: 4 out of 10.
