Pop/Soda Box Art

Here's a collection of "soda box art" from different displays:

There's something horribly ironic about "Farm Fresh Produce" being spelled out by something full of processed sugars.

And because of the "pixellated" nature of soda box art, it lends itself well to old video games:

Oh, and here's a Boba Fett example that I showed a few years back.

When my boys and I stopped at Cub Foods in St. Paul (Midway neighborhood) last week, we were greeted with this "Pepsi Products" Thanksgiving turkey:

Crush Grape

I was surprised to realize that I'd never reviewed any "Crush" sodas! So here's grape:

On the deck of a little cabin I'm staying in right along Trade River in WI.

Brand: Crush Grape.

Origin: Plano, TX.

Purchase Place: Blue Sun Soda, Spring Lake Park, MN.

Sweetener: Cane Sugar.

Review: I think most grape sodas can win me over pretty easily. This is one of them. It's sugary, sweet, and heavy on the grape. It tastes like being a kid. Tasty!

Score: 8.5 out of 10.

History of Soda Can Logos

I just came across a post (that's a few years old) with the history of some soda can designs :

I'm sad that the "bubbles" so prominent in the 7-Up design (in 1961 and 1980 - 1994) have disappeared.

And I prefer many of the older more simple designs.  The 1960s - 1970s have the most of my favorite designs above.  I like the 1965 and 1972 Crush cans and the 1990 7-Up can.  What do you like?
